Pre-trip pack shot from my crappy cell phone camera. Bag is a Crumpler Whickey & Cox.

What's not shown is the laptop carrier which attaches to the inside flap. Taking my work provided IBM R51 laptop, which is loaded with DxO Optics v4.1 for easy (but not quick) automatic image processing of both JPG and RAW.

DxO Optics automatically detects the lens used for the image from the EXIF data, and applies a defined lens correction profile, as well as other common adjustments such as sharpening, adjusting exposures, color balance, etc. No replacement for manual corrections with CS2, but when on the road, and with a less than powerful laptop, it should get the job done... I hope. :)

Review text:
Very solid and well padded bag that can pack a decent amount of gear (clocks in at about 12 kilos as shown). Even fully loaded, the fit is comfortable as the shoulder straps are thickly padded. The waist belt while not padded is still usable to reduce strain to the spine while carrying the bag for longer distances.

Crumpler paid lots of attention to detail (as usual), such as the easily removable waist belt, the flexible Velcro dividers and the removable shell holding the camera equipment (turning the backpack into a regular day pack).

My only gripe are the two outer pockets. When the bag is well loaded, they are all but useless as I cannot get my hand inside anymore.

This is not a bag that I would choose to shoot out of while on the street - I would prefer a smaller shoulder bag for that. But it works very well to transport gear and a mid sized Laptop from A to B and allows you to shoot out of the bag from a set location.

Likes about the bag: size, design, flexibility

Dislikes about the bag: outer pockets
