We´ve been really hot on backpacks this year due to the current trend in photographing illegal stuff and needing to run away quickly afterwards. Crumpler Full Photo Backpacks are designed to offer photographers speed, agility and a convenient place to put their lunch. They have security zipping and back frame and come in a range of colours because, you know, some people just can't wear red.

The zipped compartments at the front contain all the cables, a couple of filters, memory cards etc. and there ate two small pockets at the side for a mars bar and my ipod :)

There's a largish compartment at the back which has two opposed zips - you can shove a tripod leg through these and carry a tripod horizontally although I need to add a clip of some sort to stop it sliding out (the larger versions of this bag have that clip already). I reckon a larger-sized Gorillapod would fit there without any hassle though.

This is the smallest of crumpler's full photo backpacks but it takes (almost) all of my kit with ease. I really like the secure way it zips up so that it cannot be opened whilst being worn - makes me feel much happier when walking about in strange areas. The laptop bag also holds my MacBook quite happily.

Decent bag, but one if it's strenghts (the fact that the zip to the main compartment is behind the straps for security), is also it's main weakness as it's not easy to get to gear. Also, space inside is smaller than it appears from the outside. I also have a 350D, Sigma 10-20, and Canon 17-85, and none of these will fit in comfortably.

pros and cons

Likes
Solid build, removable inside compartment (very handy if the person at an airport check in desk tells you your bag is too big!), mesh covering to stop your gear falling out, and laptop space. Space in front to hold a small tripod or monopod across the face, but don't try taking anything too big
Dislikes
Not easy to access gear at all, and the space is deceptively small.
