The K3L is a backpack that combines both a camera bag and hiking pack similar to the Tamrac adventure series, Lowepro Rover and Orion backpacks . The bottom section of the pack holds the camera gear whilst the top has space for other essentials.
I`ve checked out the some of the other bags from Tamrac and Lowepro and the K3 really does impress. Its well designed and built plus it has an abundance of space.
The exterior of the bag is made from Ripstop 600D nylon and feels tough and well put together . The bag is designed so it is actually suspended away from your back to give more airflow and prevent you from sweating which is a problem with backpacks.Great idea.
There are also chest and waist straps to support the backpack.
The bag has what look like waterproof zips to help keep things dry inside.
If that isn't enough there is a waterproof cover..
I like that its hidden at the bottom of the bag to add protection to the camera gear when the pack is put down.
---
There are 4 small pockets on the backpack, one at the bottom front suitable for batteries, memory cards, etc
On the right side.. here shown with cleaning materials and table tripod.
and on the left.. here I`ve a storage drive.
..at the back there is a padded pocket for a decent sized laptop/notebook (15.4") and another smaller pocket. I don`t have a laptop so I have placed a magazine to show how much room is there.
--
The main top compartment has plenty of space. I managed to fit a light coat, Nikon SB-800 flash and a water flask in there.
The floor of the top compartment can be lifted up to get access to the lower camera gear compartment.
To open the lower compartment there is a combination of a quick release buckle and a zipper hidden under a flap for added security
The dividers as per usual are velcro attached.
---
My gear inside the bottom compartment....
Its all very well padded and good depth. The Nikon 180 2.8 fits well. I`ve noticed that with all Naneu Pro bags their dividers are very soft and well cushioned which gives you greater confidence in placing your expensive gear inside them.
And outside
The K3 also has a tripod attachment. A front pocket at the top of the bag doubles as a tripod holder.
Opening it right out reveals a elasticated pocket in which you can place the tripod feet. The top is then secured by a strap and buckle.
The image below shows a Manfrotto 718SHB tripod

And if you want to listen to music on the go theyve included somewhere to feed your headphones lead through.
Overall I`m really impressed with the K3L. Naneu Pro seemed to have gone to that extra effort to not only compete with the big companies such as Lowepro and Tamrac but actually seemed to have surpassed them with this bag. It has some really well designed features and feels like it could roll off a mountain and the contents would be left untouched , such is the amount of padding inside.
The only minor negative thing in my opinion would be its slightly bulky size. The bag is designed really for hiking use and its well suited for that. But for something to use around town or travelling light I would go with the smaller Lowepro Orion trekker II or Tamrac adventure series.
UPDATE:
Heres a couple of photos comparing the K3L with the Lowepro Orion Trekker II

Likes about the bag:
Well made. Holds alot of gear without feeling too heavy. Good price. Ingenious back airflow design. Waterproof features
Dislikes:
Perhaps too large for non-hiking use.
