Review #1

(Added 16th June 2010)

Bag contains:
1- Canon 450D Xsi
2- Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II LD with lens hood
3- Canon 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM IS with hood reversed
4- Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM
5- Canon 430EX Speedlite II with sotfen on
6- Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Kit Lens
7- Black and White card
8- Wireless remote
9- 2 SD Cards
10- Cleaning kit (clothes + brush pen)
11- Shower cap (to protect the camera from wet)
12- DIY light sphere diffuser
13- 2 Filter with boxes (Star and CPL)
14- Lens caps
15- Backup camera battery
16- 4 AA battery for Flash
17- SDHC USB adptor

My criteria are:
1- Easy to get my gear with side door
2- Top compartment to carry non camera stuff for my wife
3- Less than 100$
4- Look fine and unlike camera backpack
5- enough room for my gear

Here is all my gear

Storage test:
So...can Aero Speedpack fit them all??
The answer is YES and still have a lot space left

All the camera stuff are in the main bottom compartment. The filter, cards, cleaning kit stored in the top compartment. The SD cards, battery is stored in the pocket (the grey panel) in the bottom compartment.

Look, I can store my camera with lens hood on my Tamron lens and I still have space left (the slot where I put my DIY diffuser)

Size and Look:
The camera bag looks is perfect. Not fancy that will attract a lot of attention. It looks also like just normal backpack. It is not huge. So no worry that you will bump people unless it is really crowded

Non Camera storage:
Big enough to store another XSI with a manual, small umbrella, small light, key, passport, whatever you want. A lot of room for non camera storage but it is not huge as advertised (it is more like a scam).

It also has 2 elastic holder (or you can call it 2 pockets) for you to store the filter boxes, lens cap, manual, map, AA battery etc. I am really satisfied.

There is also a size pocket for bottle of water. There is small front pocket for some small non valuable stuff (because it is see through, don't put money there)

Side access:

Impressive for me. Some people claims that it is hard to get to the camera. Well, not for my small XSI (450D). I can easily pull out and put back. Again, there are some pockets when the door is opened. You can put the SD card or backup battery there to have a quick change. Excellent!!!

The only drawback is the zipper. It is sealed properly for water resistance. It is perfect. However, It makes the door harder to open and it is not smooth.

Conclusion:
In my case, this is pefect bag for me now. It costs only 85$ CAD and can fit all my gear. Plenty of pockets and room to store my gadgets and non camera stuff. I have no complaints at all.

I feel comfortable wearing it with all the equipment stored inside. I love it so much.

Likes about the bag:
1- Plenty of room for storage
2- A lot of small pockets for small gadget
3- Sufficient room for non camera stuff
4- Price is excellent
5- Water resistance size door for quick access
6- Doesnt look like a camera backpack
7- Comfortable even with full load
8- Carry on approved. So you can carry it with you to the flight.

Dislikes about the bag :
1- No room to carry a tripod
2- No fancy design
3- No cell phone pouch attached to the belt
4- No waist belt to share the weight which will make it even more comfortable
5- No water protect case

Recommended to friend? Yes

  • Description: The Aero Speed Pack 75 Dual Access Photo Backpack is the perfect carrying solution for the photographer who prefers the comfort of a backpack, but doesn't want to sacrifice the ability to quickly and easily access photo gear. To accomplish this, Tamrac developed an innovative Dual Access System™ that allows fast access through the side door when the pack is worn over one shoulder. Like a traditional photo backpack, equipment can also be accessed through the front panel with the pack is removed. This versatile backpack holds and protects a DSLR with up to a 7½" lens attached, 1-2 additional lenses and accessories. For weather protection, the side door is equipped with a water-resistant zipper while the front panel has a weather flap. Inside the side door, accessory pockets hold memory cards, lens caps and other accessories. In addition to the completely foam padded bottom compartment, the pack has a large top compartment perfect for personal items, such as a lunch or light jacket. An elasticized mesh side pocket provides convenient access to a water bottle. The pack features a carrying handle and a comfortable, foam-padded backpack harness contoured to distribute the weight of the camera gear across the shoulders. Two lash tabs on the bottom allow a tripod to be carried (requires accessory straps, Model S-113, sold separately).
