Review for Canon EOS 1D

Review #1

At last a case which is really portable and contains my typical travel equipment!!!
I travel by plane to tropical islands or other nice but difficult places, and when on site I am used to travel by boat, jeeps, etc. I am always worry about my photo gear: sand, water, humidity, shocks, etc. I want/have to travel light, too, and keep my photo gear always with me. Now I have found the solution: HPRC 4100 with foam inside.

HPRC is a very innovative Italian Company and this case proves it. The dimensions are simply perfect: smaller could not contain 2 cameras (see the 4050 model) and larger becomes too heavy and bulky. This size is great to host 2 cameras (one with battery grip or a big one like my 1D), 2 lenses fitted on cameras and additional lens max 200mm long in size, or two shorter, one on top of the other (separated by a foam disk...). And there is still room for accessories.

In fact, the foam in the bottom part is typically made of 3 layers: the lowest one is about 1 cm thick and must not be cut. Then there are the other 2 layers, of about 10 cm each in thickness. So it is easier to cut them and create the holes for the equipment. They are pre-cut in small cubes, so that is it easy to create the space. I also used a well sharpened knife. As you can see in the last pictures, the holes for the camera and lenses are of course passing through both foam layers, but the small squared holes can be different. This allows you to store some accessories in the middle layers and hide the holes with the top layer...

Last detail is the hanging system for the strap: it can move by 160°, allowing the strap to follow the movements of the case on yr shoulder. Not bad! The handle on top is big and rubberized. The pressure compensation valve is fully automatic and you do not have to do anything! The general construction is really strong, solid, dust and water proof. You can seat on it, with no problem. The equipment is completely surrounded by a high quality protective foam, so even in case of drop or rolling of the case, no damages will occur to the content. I love this bag! and is cheaper than what you can expect...
