Review #1

Here are (probably too many) photos of the setup I am using for constant carry of the D70. The little black backpack is an Eagle Creek Travel Bug.
It's been my purse for a while now. Too fashion-mini for most guy types, but small enough to swing under my arm in crowds or for quick access. It holds my wallet, a tiny notebook, a packet radio, cellphone, first-aid kit, and the Lowepro D-Res 40AW. The D-Res is a tight fit because I keep the notebook and first-aid kit underneath it. More sensible people could skip that step and have plenty of space.

The Nikon D70 fits really well in the 40AW on its side. The kit lens is too long to use with this bag holster-style. I have the divider set up to hold it with the kit lens on with no hood, but the hood-on version also works. I like the handgrip side facing up so I can just grab it from the top of the purse, and that's how I stow it when I use the D-Res as a waist pack. The little divider covering the lens part is a spare divider from another D-Res bag, and with that there the whole set up pretty secure. Getting the camera in and out takes a little twisty motion but is one-handed and very snug.

I think the Lowepro will work as an insert in lots of handbags. I'd like to see a Crumpler insert some day; those look pretty keen as well.

The pics are pretty big. Hope they don't clog your inbox too much. Two bags for the price of one, though. Can't wait to see the site develop. I can't cram another lens into this setup. Going to need the reference when I expand my outfit...

Thanks to Kathy Ryan for photos & comments.
