When I was initially looking for my bag I wanted something compact, but at the same time had room for more than just the D70.
Anyway, the bag holds a D70 with kit lens mounted. Either side there is still room for additional lenses. I've got a 50mm on one side and my Sony W1 on the other. Thinking about an external flash which is why the extra space would come into use. The external zipped side compartment holds my filters, spare battery, lens pen, spare CF cards.
The bag can be carried over the shoulder or over the shoulder and across the chest, or by a belt strap that be also be tucked away when not in use.

The photo contains Lowepro Photo Runner bag + Canon EOS 20D + eyepiece extender Canon EP-EX15 + Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM lens + EW-83DII hood (originally for EF 24mm
f/1.4L lens)
The bag also holds well with EW-83E hood (for EF 16-35mm f/2.8L lens) mounted but doesn¡¯t hold with battery grip BG-E2 (for Canon EOS 20D) attached.
