(Added 7th Feb 2008)

Lowepro Toploader 75 AW can be strap on and shoulder strap, or shoulder harness, or S&F belt.

Holds a Canon EOS 1D Mk II N body with Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 (with hood reverse), or a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 (with hood)
Can hold the flash in the front pocket, and a small lens in the bottom (inside main compartment)

Perfect fit for a 1-series

You can mount a lowepro lens pouch at each side

Here's my toploader, with a Lowepro softcase secured to the side, which stores the lens not used. I keep the Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM on the camera most of the time:

Has a nice strap that has a sticky material that keeps the bag on the shoulder.

The toploader with the listed items leaves little room for an external flash and the front pocket leaves little room for filters and much else. I store the flash card wallet there. The somewhat bigger bag keeps everything, so when I go somewhere where I need multiple lenses and accessories, the Nova 5 goes with.

Are you looking for a small bag but are worried about not having enough space for extra lenses? Don't think a backpack that you have to take off every time you want to get at your camera is the only option.

You may want to check out the Lowepro Toploader 75AW. This is a very slim yet versatile bag. It consists of a deep main compartment, with a two way zipper on the top for very easy camera access and a front cargo pocket that can be made into two sections and accessed from the top or bottom. The AW in it's name stands for All Weather as it has a rain cover that straps over the top zippered area to prevent leaks. The great thing about this bag is there are two carrying methods, shoulder strap or Chest rig (included)

Now I know your thinking dam, I have a long lens or lenses where the hell am I gona put them? I must need a larger bag… Nope!

Though the bag is small the dimensions are deep and wide enough to hold a professional SLR body with grip even when coupled to such lenses as the Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM or Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM (hoods reversed) or two smaller lenses. There is a slim area beside the length of the lens for accessories such as a blower or off shoe cord. The top lid has a zippered pocket to hold media and lens cloths. While the front cargo pocket is large enough to hold a pro flash and a few other items.

Sounds good but I have multiple large lenses that I just cant go without.

This is where the versatility of the bag really comes into play. Use of lens cases (sold sep) and the Slip Lock system allow you to up your capacity to a Pro SLR body + three large sized lenses or water bottle.

My kit that I fit into this bag:

Canon EOS 20D + Vertical grip
Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM with tripod collar
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Canon 580EX Speedlite
Charger
Extra battery
Off shoe cord2
Remote switch RS-80E3
cleaning cloth
extra media
tripod mounting plate

lenses not on camera sit in lens cases models 4 and 4s

For a night on the town the lens cases are removed and it is used with the shoulder strap. If I am out on a serious photo mission the chest strap is on and the top lid zipper is undone for rapid camera access.

Pros: All of the above. lifetime warranty, Perfect bag for someone using a wheelchair.
Cons: Base padding could be a bit thicker , The chest strap is a little hard to get off your body.

Price: bag: $90 CAD lens cases: $20 CAD (each)

Reviews for Nikon D70 / D100 / D200 / D300 / D700

Review #1

The tag on the back of the bag reads, "Toploader 75 AW". The bag measures 12 5/8" deep to the top lip at the rear of the bag at the deepest point. There is approx 1/4" compressable padding in both the top and bottom. My Nikon D70 / 70-200mm VR f/2.8/TC14EII measures 12 11/16" at the longest point including lens cap *and* UV filter, lens hood reversed. The combo slips in the bag and zips up with NO stress on the zipper AT ALL. No doubt the bag is full end to end but, all things considered, it is a perfect fit.

Now, for you wide body cam boys, here is a view from overhead. As you can see, there is *plenty* of room for the D2H and similar. There is extra padding that can be removed running the length of the bag to the sides of the cam. The extra piece of pad you see above my cam is designed to alter the depth of the bag by velcro attachment. I first placed it in the bottom of the bag for extra padding and the zipper would close but is too tight. That pad is approx 7/16ths thick. I intend to get a 1/8" piece of closed cell foam to place in the bottom for a little extra padding. If you are careful with your gear, the existing bottom padding is enough -- but "just".

Note:  Well as Phil Y. will confirm, there is some confusion about this bag - which allows a Nikon 1.4x TC mounted to 70-200mm VR all mounted on D70 to fit fine.

However, the "gotcha" is that there was an older version of this bag, only recently discontinued in July '04, called the "S&F Toploader 75 AW"  - note that subtle "S&F" designation - it's the only distinguishing feature!  (S&F means "Street & Field" of course - Lowepro seem to consider this unambiguous!)

If the label on the rear of the bag says "S&F Toploader 75 AW" then a 1.4TC mounted to 70-200mm VRall mounted on D70 will NOT fit!!! It is at least 3cm shorter.

But, if the label on the rear of the bag says "Toploader 75 AW" then a 1.4TC mounted to 70-200mm VR all mounted on D70 will fit OK. The extra 3+cm makes all the difference - ie size does matter.

My local shop had one of the old "S&F" versions - so I can vouch that the above D70/TC/lens combination will not fit from first-hand experience :-(  in fact, a D70 with 70-200mm VR (ie no 1.4TC) will only fit if you apply some pressure to the zip whilst doing it up - it strains, and will clearly break at some point.

Fortunately, the UK distributor has kindly exchanged the "S&F" version for the new version "Toploader 75 AW" - so I'm a happy bunny - now.

But I bet not everyone will manage this trick, and that some shops will expect to still get rid of their old stock!  The shop I bought mine from are still (even now, with physical evidence to the contrary) refusing to beleive this fact.

Which is why I had to approach the main UK distributors, very politely, very carefully - and thankfully they took pity and made the exchange with no fuss.

Feel free to put your own wording on your page - but I do feel it's worth having a warning clearly there - at least until we can be sure all the old stock is sold (maybe longer, in case folks buy second hand?).
