Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM

Spare batteries + other stuff

I bought the bag, because I wanted to have more incognito urban camera bag: a shoulder bag that looks like ordinary bag any student would use. I think it fits the bill perfectly: the bag looks nice, rugged just like any ordinary bag.

At first I thought that the open design of the inserts wouldn´t be good, since I´m used to quite rigidly designed Tamrac bags. I´ve grown to like the way insert works on this bag, however: I feel that the bag gives enough protection yet haves quite a bit freedom on how you can organise the insides if the bag.

If needed, the bag can eat also DELL E6500 Laptop (15,4\"), although the specs provided by NG suggested that this might not be the case. It should be noted, however, that when laptop is inside, the bag gets filled up and you can´t squeeze in as much other equipment. Maybe just 5D with one lens attached + 1-2 additional lenses and a flash. If you want to comfortably fit computer cables & other stuff, then you might want to have only one additional lens with you.

Couple of things bother me with the bag: one is the lack of hidden zippered document pouch on the back. Such can be found on NG´s older shoulder bags, so I can´t really understand why they left that out on this one. Would be nice to have! Other thing is that the padding on the shoulder strap is fixed and you must move the whole strap when you want to re-position the padding. Third is the rain cover, which is a bit awkward to use. They should have made it similar to Lowepro´s AW-system, so you can pull the cover fast from the hidden section. The pouches on top of the lap should also be a bit larger, there´s ample room for that. And finally, maybe a proper way to close the flap, the velcro just isn´t enoough, IMO.

In all, I´m pretty pleased, but I feel this still isn´t the Holy Grail of Cambags I´m always looking for. This will do, however, for the time being.

Likes about the bag:
The appearance & habitus of the bag

Dislikes about the bag:
No hidden zippered document pouch, no good attachment locks on the flap, too small pouches on the flap
