2F-3X.jpg

Description: Description
The deceptively compact F-3X is the bag to grab when the assignment doesn't call for dozens of pieces of equipment. No space is wasted, because the inside and outside dimensions are nearly identical. The result is a very inconspicuous camera bag that carries a surprising amount of gear.

Nine compartments and pockets. There's even Domke's trademark "upside-down" zipper pouch inside the weather flap.
Removable padded partition wall included.
Adjustable non-slip Gripper Strap runs completely around the bag.
Open cell foam liner in bottom adds cushioned support.
Removable hand carrying strap can be used whether bag is open or closed.

Specifications
Internal Dimensions Main compartment 8.5L x 5.5W x 9"D.
Weight 2 lbs.
Material Canvas
Capacity 1 or 2 cameras with or without motor drives, 3-4 lenses, flash unit, film, and accessories.

Pros: size,comfort
Cons: I wish it was 1 to 2 inchs taller

I have two of these, in different colors, and consider it the best working bag Domke makes. It can carry even a pro body with a 70-200 and 24-70 lenses and flash. I like to carry it lens-up with the 70-200 mounted. Too bad Domke no longer makes the taller "Long Lens Bag" version of this bag. However, it's still my favorite Domke bag.

Pros: Stealth, Comfort, Size
Cons: Weather flap not wide enough

Wonderful bag, replaced my bulky Lowepro Nature Trekker AW II backpack and I almost got everything from it into the 3X.

I'm stuffing it with:

Main compartment:
Canon EOS 1Ds, 24-70/2,8L or 20D with batterygrip, mounted 17-40/4L
Canon 550 EX Flash
Canon 70-200/2,8L
Lens shades on top

Front pocket:
Spare batteries for camera
2 sets of spare rechargables for the flash
Small assortment of filters (Polarizer and Closeup)
Cable release

Side pockets:
50/1,4 with mounted shade
TTL extension cable
Handheld exposure meter
Lens cleaning tissue and fluid
Travelcharger for flash batteries
Imagetank

Back pocket:
Safety vest

So far it's the only camera bag i have seen that doesn't shout "Expensive camera inside". The lack of excess padding keeps the bag close to your body and almost glues it to your side when you are moving between shots.

I work as a full time photographer for the Swedish Armed Forces and after almost a year of daily use the bag hasn't let me down yet.

Why 9/10 only?

Weather flap isn't wide enough. Leaves a gap of approx. 1/2" on each side with bag closed.

Pros: Not overly bulky. Fits my cam with large lens and a grip attached.
Cons: The metal clasp leaves much to be desired.

Nice bag. Well constructed. Perfect for a short day out shooting at the zoo or walking around town.

Pros: Comfortable, does not look like a camera bag
Cons: Price, little protection

Got off to a bad start with this bag when it arrived with the strap stitched on the wrong way round, so quality control would appear to be non-existent, at least the day mine was made. The issue of the soft bottom some people find a problem can easily be resolved by placing a piece of closed cell foam in it, but whether the bag is worth the price charged is debatable. The concept of a soft bag like this for carry your camera is useful and can prove comfortable to use, but in all honesty you could probably find a canvas bag of similar dimensions to do the same job in a general baggage shop at a fraction of the price. I bought this bag as a smaller alternative to my F2, but the F2 appears to be far better value. Many people seem to love this bag, so perhaps in time I will also, but do feel its expensive for a very basic canvas bag.

Pros: comfortable, good looking, does not shout EXPENSIVE GEAR INSIDE
Cons: none, just needs fine tuning

after many years of using lowepro, i have always found to be missing something.
then i came across, this little fellow and said this is it.
did a lot of research and realized that this bag is about to become the perfect camera bag, that we all look for.
1- took some inserts from my many bag collection, that i had accumulated over the years, pulled out the old faithful sewing machine and scissors, and started to cuctomerize the inserts to suite how i find in a bag should be.
2 - took an all weather cover from the lowepro minimag aw (this cover actually fits the F3X like a glove ) and is stored in the rear compartment.
3 - emptied a tin of 3M scotch guard spray on the outside, this will repell water and stains. and even with those modifactions, it still does not look any bigger trhan before

Pros: flexibility, feel, good looks
Cons: minimal padding

The f-3x works for big loads or small loads. Since it isn't overpadded, it sizes itself to the load, and fits snugly to my side. So it's equally comfortable loaded heavy for a gig, or light for a casual outing. Before I bought the f-3x, I needed 2 bags for a holiday... the Lowepro Minitrekker as the "mothership", and the Tamrac 5534 as my day bag. Now the f-3x serves both roles. And did I mention that it's really good looking?
