The side pocket was a good idea, On Paper, but in the real world it is a dangerous idea, unless you like droping your camera and lens on the ground. I believe that a person needs to be a contortionist to get to the side pocket and grab your camera and lens. I think that they should have made the velcro pads more universal and able to bend into the slots you want. I really do like the bag and am working hard to find problems. It is every bit a Lowepro, and is made from recycled materials in China (NO lead :-) )

I was looking for a fairly generic looking backpack to use a carry on when traveling that would allow me to carry the stuff I usually have in my Slingshot 200 AW and still have room for the extra personal stuff i need when traveling.
This bag does meet that need. The lower camera bag is not as roomy as my Slingshot but with some creative thinking I can get it in with room for the other stuff I want to carry. It is however not anywhere near as convenient as the Slingshot for grab shots.
The quick draw pocket is a good idea but it takes practice to use it, and I would not want to use it with a battery grip.
Thw suspension is extremely good and flexible for a variety of builds (I am 6' and 250lbs and it is quite comfortable. I could carry it all day with no problem.
I have accented the negative here. This is a really good bag and is a good technical bag with lots of room for non camera gear...

Pros : Strong Construction, Comfortable, All weather cover, Safe from unwanted guests, Adjustable Harness, RoomyBest Uses : Backpacking, Transporting Gear, Storing Gear, Protecting Gear, International Travel, High AdventureDescribe Yourself : Photo Enthusiast The Primus AW Backpack is overall a great pack. The construction is very solid and doesn't feel like it will fall apart even after some rough terrains. I climbed the middle Teton (13,000) with this pack and it was wonderful. Comfortable throughout the entire day (14 hours of hiking). It is very adjustable and just snugs onto my back very well. For me, the size is perfect. It allows me to easily carry my D90 with 18-200mm VR, 10-24, 10.5 Fisheye, 35mm 1.8, SB-400 flash, Canon G10, spare batteries for each camera, extra memory, filters, remotes, chargers, snacks, lunch, and hydration. The weight certainly does become an issue, but I've been backpacking my whole life and so this doesn't tend to bother me at all. The all weather feature is great. A perfect sized raincover pops up out of no where on the bottom and covers the entire bag very well. When I climbed the middle Teton it was raining/snowing the entire time and I was very comfortable knowing my gear was very protected. After the hike up, we slid down many glaciers and again I felt very comfortable knowing all my gear was protected. Having said all that, I will note this: If you are a pro photographer with lots of stuff, and very big cameras, I would not recommend this bag. I sympathasize with the previous reviews about having trouble getting your gear in and out. My D90 is a tight squeeze, so I can imagine the larger full frames are tough. If you are constantly reaching for your camera and putting it away, think about something else. I use my Slingshot 300 for most things. (ie. nature hikes, day at the park, family outings, short distance travel, and most 2-4 hour activities) Think about what you do most and if they are the things just mentioned, think about a different bag. I use this bag mainly for all day things which require lots of gear, international travel, and backpacking. Again, if you plan on wanting a bag to constantly be taking your camera in and out, go to a store, bring your camera and some equipment, and try things out to see what you like. If you are buying this pack to do some of the things I listed above, then you will love this pack. I am very outdoors-y and LOVE THIS PACK! I can take it on high adventure things and know that my gear is safe and protected. If you're not doing any high adventure type things, I wouldn't recommend this pack. SO PLEASE KEEP IN MIND WHAT YOU WILL BE USING IT FOR MOST and then make your decision!
