The high performance and versatile Velocity 5x - Photo Hip Pack Convertible doesn't look like a camera bag, but it holds and protects a digital or film SLR with zoom lens attached up to 5" long, additional lenses and a flash. Inside the main compartment, the camera with lens attached is suspended on two vertical, foam-padded dividers. It converts from a shoulder bag to a hip pack with the Tuck-A-Way™ hip belt (adjusts to 53"). Cinch straps on the hip belt help stabilize the pack.

For fast and convenient access to camera gear, the Quick Flip Top™ opens away from the body. The front pocket has organizer pockets inside to keep a mobile phone, PDA or photo accessories within easy reach. It also features Tamrac's patented Memory & Battery Management System™ that uses red flags to identify available memory cards and batteries from ones that are used up. A pocket inside the lid stores filters and lens caps.

Add Tamrac's optional accessories using the attachment slots for our Strap Accessory System™ (S.A.S.™) and Modular Accessory System™ (M.A.S.™) products to customize this high performance hip pack to perfectly fit your needs.

Pros: Very expandable, more discreete looking than other bags, hip strap is invaluable for spreading around extra weight in bag
Cons: Zippers sometimes become a pain with various objects getting in the way,tuck-a-way hip belt can only be fully stored with no MAS attachments

Just about the perfect bag for my tastes. The two biggest strenghts of this bag is the MAS add-on ability and its shoulder/hip straps. The bag alone is a fairly decent size, not too small or too big. It can carry a medium sized slr with a zoom lens attached along with two more lens. Depending on the size of those lenses it could be a sqeeze though.

Thats where the beauty of the MAS comes in, the bag has two attachment points on its side that allows you to add different sized lens cases. Effectivly allowing the bag to carry an slr with lens plus four other lens. The additional lens case can vary in size to accomidate whatever lens is stored.

The second great strenght of this bag is its shoulder / hip strap combo. The best part is just being able to have the option to choose from either to fit the situation. The shoulder/hip combo also has the bonus of being able to distribute weight the of the bag over two areas of your body instead of just either the shoulder or hip.

Using both together I was able to carry an slr and five lenses with ease and still be perfect mobility because the bag was secured to my back with the hip straps bearing most of the weight. The shoulder strap was used to further stabalize by reducing swaying of the bag as well as provide more weight support.

Overall its the perfect bag to suit my needs. Excellent mobility and very very adaptable to fit various needs. It can go from discreete to giant camera bag depending of what attachments are on it. The thing I love the most are the shoulder/hip combo, I can carry much more on me without the pain caused by hanging all the weight on one area of the body.
